Having a hard time finding inspiration and motivation to write? Join me for any (or all) of these online one-hour sessions on Tuesdays at noon EST. We’ll talk about a piece of writing, I will give you a prompt, and then you will WRITE. These classes are in partnership with Press 53. Cost: $10/session. Register for any of them here.
"The uniqueness of her selections has been as useful as the prompts themselves to expand my ideas of what craft and form can do." —E.M.
"These workshops have been excellent, and they are exactly what I need in the middle of my busy work day." —J.B.
(NEW!) Borrow, But Never Steal:
Use Other Poets’ Work to Inspire Your Own Poems (online)
Wednesday, December 11, 3-5:00 PM
Feeling stuck? Have writer’s block? Or just wanting inspiration? During this online, generative class we will use other poets’ work as jumping off points to kick off our own pieces. Bring one book (preferably a poetry collection, but any book will do in a pinch) with you. We’ll create a few first drafts and let others' words help us keep our pens moving. We'll also talk about how to make sure we give credit to writers when we borrow a title, line, or idea from them to create our own (and different) work. Facilitated by yours truly, author of the poetry collection, Something So Good It Can Never Be Enough. Cost: $35. Register here. Note: This workshop will be recorded for those who register and cannot attend.
Cultivate a Daily Writing Practice (online)
Wednesday, January 1, 2-4:00 pm Eastern
Are you wanting to write every day in 2025? I used to say writers didn’t need to write every day—and I still believe that—but in 2021 I decided to write a poem every day for one month. It didn’t matter how long or how short, how great or how terrible. All that mattered was that I wrote one. After that month ended, I was hooked, and not a day has gone by since then that I have not written something. In this workshop, I will share a few of my tricks to ensure that, even if I have only a few minutes to spare, I get something on the page. You’ll have the chance to try some of my methods in class with writing sprints geared toward prose and poetry, so come ready to write. Cost $45. Register here. Note: This workshop will be recorded for those who register and cannot attend.
